Game Analysis
2004's "FIRST Frenzy: Raising the Bar" is a unique and challenging game. There are many ways to score points this year during the game. Just like last year, there is an autonomous mode of 15 seconds in the beginning of each round. There is a pedestal for each team with a 10 point small yellow ball, which when removed during autonomous mode, will trigger the ball drop to drop 18 small 5 point balls randomly onto the field. An IR beacon between the 2 pedestals on each side of the field can be utilized to locate the 10 point ball. The main objective of the game this year is to get as many small balls into the scoring goals as possible. Robots move small balls through a 4'x 2' chute into the ball corral for their team's human player, who may throw small balls into the stationary or mobile goal for their alliance. Robots are not allowed to score small balls, so the human player is very important in this game. Using a larger 2X ball to cap the scoring goals will double the score of the whole goal, and finally, hanging on a bar elevated high above the ground will score 50 more points for the alliance. There are thousands of combinations to score and hundreds of ways to win.
How the game works:
This year there are several complicated rules. There is a video made for FIRST hosted by NASA that explains the gameplay, which can that can be viewed here (this opens in a new window).
Let the games begin!
