Rapid React Week 9 Recap

Week 9 Recap
Week nine was the last week before team 111’s first competition for this year. Everyone on both 111 and 112 is looking forward to it. If you would like to learn more about how to tune into the Central Illinois Regional during week ten, check this out! Central Illinois Regional Information

For 111, the robot is running well, and finishing touches were put on the robot. For example, the mechanical subteam fixed a few robot issues, assisted software in limelight work, and had some innovative changes. The most innovative change this week was adding orange flags to the climber so it is clear to the driver and operator where the robot is. This change was made due to watching other robots during the first weeks of competition and realizing that they had trouble centering themselves on the hanger which led to robots falling off. 111’s mechanical sub-teams goals for week ten include adding swerve module protection and preparing for CIR on Wednesday!
111’s electrical sub-team improved cable management and has been fixing random issues with the robot throughout week nine. Looking forward to week ten, 111 electrical will fix any issues; which arise before or during CIR. All the sub teams are now helping each other, as there is not much to do. The software sub-team of 111 worked on auto paths, including programming and testing them. This work will allow team 111 to be as successful as possible at CIR in week ten.
112’s mechanical sub-team added hard stops for the intake and designed hardtops for the climb. They also began building the lift for their robot. During week nine, 112’s robot started driving, using its intake, and shooting successfully! Their goals for week ten include tweaking the intake and feed and finishing the lift.
112’s electrical sub-team worked on cable management, placed the robot signal light, and worked on the limelight. Their goals for week ten are to finish the limelight on the robot, rewire the intake, and possibly wire the ball gate motor if mechanical wants them to. The sub-team is looking forward to seeing how 111 does at CIR and learning from them for Midwest.
Strategy is getting ready for CIR by practicing their scouting during week nine; they also watched the defense of other robots during the past few competitions. Their goal for week ten is to train other people how to use WildRank for scouting, and to scout the matches at CIR.
Communications worked hard this week but will work even harder during week ten. During week nine, the week eight blog post was written and posted; they filmed and took pictures throughout the week and completed the buttons for CIR. For CIR, the pit awards got completed during week nine. In week ten, we will see a lot of action from the communications team: such as keeping up with social media updates during CIR, working on the week nine blog post, filming and taking pictures, creating a blog post about how to tune into CIR without attending in person, and finalizing the pit awards for midwest and handing out the pit awards for CIR.

Overall, week nine led to the completion of 111’s robot, which is now ready for the Central Illinois Regional beginning March 17th. Team 112 had a lot of growth; they got their robot shooting successfully! Please check out our blog post here about how to tune into CIR if you are interested: Central Illinois Regional Information
