Rapid React Week 7 Recap

Week 7 Recap
Week seven was a big week for 112. The mechanical team got most of the robot completed, which allowed for electrical to get their hands on the robot. This is forward momentum for team 112. Team 111 is improving their robot as everything is already mechanically and electrically complete. Both 111 and 112 are working on their software, which will get their robots moving on the field, specifically focusing on autonomous now.

Team 111’s mechanical subteam made changes to the robot to keep it working in top form. These changes include modifying the hook for the climber, changing the treads(part of the wheels), replacing the intake wheels to allow for improved cargo gripping, and building the play field. All of these improvements allow 111 to grow and help 112. Goals for this week include putting the modified hook onto the robot and fixing the hood system to make shooting cargo more exact.
Team 112’s mechanical subteam was very productive in week seven. They put the shooter onto the robot, began assembling the climbing mechanism, CAD for the mount on the robot was completed and the mount was built, and the intake prototype was created. Due to this intake prototype being created, 112 can now assemble the intake, a key component to having a successful robot in Rapid React. The goal for this week is to complete the intake and hopefully have it working; they also want to hand off the robot to the 112 electrical subteam to finish off the robot in totality.
Team 111’s electrical subteam is done with their work. During week seven, they replaced an ethernet wire that did not work how they wanted it to and they kept the robot working throughout the week. Next week, they plan to keep the robot in working order and wire a new camera near the intake so the drive team can see from a different angle.
Team 112’s electrical subteam made great headway during week seven. They successfully wired the majority of the robot, including most motors. Their goals during week eight include finishing up the wiring of the robot and making necessary improvements.
Once 112 electrical is finished, software can get started. During week seven the 112 software students helped each other learn more specifics regarding autonomous code. Their goals this week are to build subsystems for the robot and test them out on the physical robot if there is time.
Team 111’s software team is now getting into the more interactive parts, testing the code and watching the robot work with their coding. Week seven allowed for work on specific autonomous steps in code. In week eight, there will be more work on autonomous steps and once again testing the code.
As you might have seen, WildRank, our new scouting application, is now live. If you haven’t seen WSRP’s announcement yet, check it out here https://www.wildstang.org/ws_wp/2022/02/22/wildstang-presents-wildrank-2022/. To practice with the new scouting app, the strategy subteam has been watching week 0 matches and scouting teams from their reveal videos. Week seven consisted of watching those week 0 matches. Week eight will mainly focus on watching as many robot reveal videos as possible and ranking team 111 and 112’s robots against the other teams that have posted their reveal videos/photos. This work will allow the strategy team to see what our robots lack and what they are strong in, which directs the teams on what to look for in alliance team members.
While all the other subteams have been hard at work, communications is too. Along with the weekly events of filming, taking photos, and writing week six’s blog post, during week seven communications worked on mentor profiles and finalizing buttons, as well as completing the WildRank release p. Week eight will focus on creating the buttons for 111’s first competition, the Central Illinois Regional beginning March 16th, 2022. There is also the weekly focus of writing the week seven blog post, filming and taking photos, and working on mentor profiles.

As you can see, week seven has been a busy week, and week eight will be very similar. Week ten is the first competition for team 111, in only three weeks! Our first competition is March 16-19, we hope you will tune in via webcast. We will post updates via our social media, so be sure to follow us there! Team 112’s first competition is in week thirteen, which is upcoming. Best of luck to both teams, and keep up the good work!
