Recent WSRP Media Coverage

WSRP Media Updates
Recently, the WSRP has received a lot of coverage in the FIRST community and the local media. We have shared our work with the FIRST community through Chief Delphi. FIRST Updates Now showcased us on their “Behind the Bumpers” feature. We were also shown on NBC local Channel 5 and WGN with footage from the Midwest Regional.

FIRST Updates Now (FUN)
Both WSRP teams and our lead/mechanical mentor Harrison Drake were featured on FUN, an FRC stream on TwitchTV. On Monday night, Harrison was interviewed on FUN, during the FRC Round Up segment, where he talked about the WSRP and how we run things in our shop. He discussed the challenges of running two teams side by side in the same shop, and about our Chief Delphi build blog. Check it out here. Tuesday night was the week 2 FRC top 25. Each competition week, FUN puts out a poll for the FIRST community to vote on their top choices for robot and robot performance, and then FUN streams the top 25 including fun clips and highlights from events. Plus One came in 33rd while WildStang was ranked 3rd of all the teams in week 2. Check it out here. Wednesday night, FUN streamed a segment they call “Behind the Bumpers”. Behind the Bumpers interviews a team and learns about their program and build process. This week’s episode features both WSRP Teams 111 and 112. Both team’s pit crews and drive teams were featured in the interview, with team members sharing details about the robots and the design processes. Check it out on YouTube here.
Chief Delphi Build Blog
Chief Delphi is a FIRST community forum, with members from FIRST teams around the world sharing information and making connections. This season we decided to share more about our team and created a build blog on CD. Throughout the build season we have posted updates about the robot, the team, and our progress. In years past we have kept our robot designs secret until our reveal, but this year we changed course and decided that we want other teams to benefit from what we learned and grow from it. We have lots of interesting information, including details about our scouting choices for alliance selections for both teams in eliminations. We also recently added our FIRST Impact Award submission. Check out our build blog here.
Local News
NBC Channel 5 and WGN were at the Midwest Regional taking footage for a segment they were doing. Both 111 and 112 ended up getting lots of TV time with much of our matches being broadcasted! The Channel 5 commentators noted how exciting the competition is! One of our founding mentors, Dan Green, was featured as well, helping to educate the public on the benefits of FRC. WGN featured the competition as a whole including some shots of the WSRP robots. Check out the Channel 5 coverage here.

We are so thrilled to share our teams and our robots with the community! We have learned a ton, and are really happy to share our process, what we’ve learned, and our successes!
