From April 24 – 28, WildStang is participating in the FIRST World Championship Detroit, held in Cobo Hall and Ford Field. Over 360 teams have earned invitations to compete at this second World Champion event (the first one occurred this past weekend in Houston, TX). WildStang, as a Hall of Fame team, earns an automatic invitation each year AND this year has doubly earned its spot as a contender due to their 2 Regional Wins at the Midwest and Seven Rivers Regionals.
The FRC World Championship Detroit consists of 6 subdivisions, competing on 6 individuals fields at Cobo Hall. WildStang is competing in the Carson Division with 68 other teams. All 6 divisions have qualifying rounds on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday morning, each division, with the 8 top ranked teams serving as Alliance captains, Alliance selection begins. Immediately after, the Divisional Playoffs begin.
Following the Divisional Playoffs, the Round Robin Tournament between the 6 winners begins. The 2 highest ranked teams after all the round robin rounds compete for the Detroit World Championship on the Einstein Field at Ford Field.
